Pureora Bush Stags - 3 night Roar trip

Got away for 3 nights into the Pureoras chasing roaring stags a couple of weeks ago.
The plan was to head into an area I had hunted a little, back when I started hunting, but to push in further than I'd been before.
We pulled up to the carpark to find 8 other cars, which just about turned us around to come up with a 'Plan B'. Thankfully it turned out most of the vehicles belonged to a big party of guys at one campsite so we set off and headed into the bush towards some new territory.
We were heading in the general direction of our plan when we came across marked trees on a path to somewhere, so we decided to follow it and eventually ended up at an old shelter on a clearing.
It ended up being quite a cool area, with some nice bush in a lot of places and a lot of rubbish bush to push through too!
The stags made it pretty hard work, they weren't roaring much and they were quite shy, but I still managed to get a couple on the deck and we got in close to plenty more.
Rather than me ramble on about the nitty gritty details - here is a link to a a video I put together of the trip.
I've been lucky enough to get away into the bush for over 20 days this roar, so I'll post some more trip reports as I get time. Until then - I'm back off to the bush for the week!!
Thanks for watching!

I would have added some photos but I still struggle with that on this site...

Charlie Anderson dropped that hut in there in the early 70s,  Looks a lot more overgrown now than  when i used to go in there.
We used to fly in and stay when Charlie went to check the deer traps.

Hey ICEMAN, hope you are well mate!
Cheers for the bit of info, I'm starting to get a bit of background on it. I hear it's called Honks hut, after Hank "Honk" Reynolds, a possum trapper in the 70s. That sound about right?
Cool - live deer traps I assume? Would have been some good heads in the area back then I'd imagine?

Yes, live deer capture back then. Definitely Honks Camp, we used to stay on the near by big clearing as Honk was usually there. A couple of other good guys from the forum hunt there quite a bit.
Heads were "mostly" nothing flash, sometimes a decent one would be taken. There used to be a huge pile of heads at Honks camp that he had taken over the years.
Surprised to see so much blaze marks with todays gps technology.
