As an Author I have written articles on both fishing and fly tying, collaborated on several books, the last being "Serious about Trout Fishing" in conjunction with Tony Orman.

I run both fly tying classes and fishing schools for the Adult Education Department in winter, build rods occasionally now when time permits. I was also a Television Presenter for a Garden Show on local TV, write a weekly garden column for the Christchurch Press and “when prevented by poverty from fishing, I work as a Landscape Architect.”

Each year, I travel overseas to an exotic place to spend time Salt Water Fly-Fishing. This is usually in the company of my world famous mentor and friend from Britain, - John Goddard. Accompanying me on these trips is a comprehensive fly tying kit and my `spiritual adviser’ Doctor Gilbey.

To record a better part of a lifetime of fly tying, sharing skills and techniques with some of the worlds finest fly tiers, I have, in conjunction with Christchurch Television Studios, made five Video tapes covering in-depth, the techniques for tying the five main styles of flies in common use as well as producing this information on DVD. The main fly styles are shown in order - The Lure, The `Killer’ Style, the Dry Fly, the Nymph, and the Wet Fly.

This new DVD and the earlier Video’s far surpass anything currently in the market, and will become a standard for fly tiers around the world. The Presentations are an `in your face’ no expense spared, macro production using five cameras in a professional studio, and the very latest computer editing program.
