Cut the chamber off the barrel plus a bit of rifling, total length 60mm.
Made a pin out of a 1/4" brass bolt that slid neatly within the barrel rifling with a 1/16" diameter pin on the end 1/8" long.
I placed the cartridges in the chamber with the pin in the barrel and squeezed them together in the woodworking vise - all very quick and easy.
Discovered the Rabbit ammo did have a deeper HP that was filled with a whitish wax that had hardened so it looked a bit like teflon.
It had been copper plated over the top, the copper covering the wax.
I squeezed up some Winchester Subsonics 40gr to give a flat of .140". These shot a 10 shot group of just under 1 1/4' which included a flyer 1/4" away from the main group.
These bullets remained slightly below .225" diameter - the only ones that did,
They were also the only bullet that loosened in the case so they could rotate.
These shot a little tighter than the 'unfiddled' bullets, especially if you discount the flyer.
I gave the Winchester Rabbit ammo a slightly bigger diameter hole than it had before and gave it a slight flat, shortening the bullet by .020" (1/2mm).
These did expand to .225" and gave a 10 shot group of 1 1/2".
These shot a bit wider than yesterday.
I did the same with the CAC as I did with the Win subs, giving the bullets a 1/8" flat point. These still spread horizontally, but considerably less so than they did yesterday - 1 3/4".
I didn't do the Laser's, but I did hollowpoint some Federal Champions which gave a 1 3/8" group with a single flyer nearly 3/8" away. Take that flyer out and I had quite a tight group.
These swelled the round point is about all that happened, and curiously these were the only bullets that gave any trouble feeding from the magazine - 2 caught up.
It was a bit windy today which wouldn't have helped results, but 'fiddling' with those bullets didn't make them group any worse.
The Champion's and Win subs did the best, but all the bullets fired today would have done okay out on the hill out to 50 yards.
Was worth doing ........... I have quite a few solid point's I can now hollow point for rabbits

I shot off sandbags, 2 up front just in front of the trigger guard and one under the butt.
