Know absolutely nothing about it. Only saw it from the air flying into upper valley. Walked out, but I was on the true right side of the valley. This was in the mid 1980,s...

There was the remains of an old rotting meat hunters hut downstream from the Edison. Had a look at that, it was certainly pretty much uninhabitable even back then..

Will get back up there again one day...

Stayed in that meat hunters hut close to the Edison many moons ago. We had  a lot of Black plastic with us which we put across roof etc, and was not a bad spot , although smelt a bit damp, was good out of rain.

Yeah, I can remember reading your name off the wall of the old meat hunters hut.  According to Martin Condon, you two were the last people that he knew of who had been up there hunting before we went in. Pretty certain it was 2-3yrs prior to us going in.

Dont reckon there would be much of it standing now....

Does anyone have a photo that they'd be happy to share of this old meat hunters hut on the true right of the upper Mahitahi River please?

Cant help with a pic,, but if you can find a copy of Peter Harkers first book,,"Hunting with Harker" there may be a pic in there.

Seem to recall theres certainly mention of this hut in there...
