Hi, my son and couple of his mates are doing their first fishing roadie, aiming for Rotorua. They have a campground sorted. I'm thinking of shouting them a guide for a half day, they have caught trout in Te Urewera, and have done a bit of flyfishing but haven't caught o on the fly. They are sharp at spearfishing, but not much of that around Vegas....
If anyone knows anyone....
Thanks

I've never used a guide before, but I met Rob Vaz the other day. I'd go for a fish with him any day.
He is a real good guy, approachable and very knowledgeable. He covers the vegas area and is a real good communicator when it comes to fishing technique and actually how to catch fish where you are fishing, plus trying new styles. give him a try. https://www.robfish.co.nz/
Good of you to be putting some coin out to the local guides also. Not alot of NZ ers do that often enough.
enjoy cheers Damon

Thanks, will get in touch. After 20 years of gamefishing incl my own boat for 10, I went on a charter to 3 kings. The skipper showed us a marlin rig that had resulted in 27 tag and released marlin from 29 strikes. My record at the time was pretty much the other way around, so I reckon that kind of advise is pretty good value.....

You think you know stuff till you learn something new.
Vegas is a good area to get a guide as there are so many different areas to fish different ways. Dries to lures and wets etc. Also has 3 species of trout to target which is unusual.

Highly recommend Rob Vaz, robfish.co.nz. Rob took 3 teenage boys out for first flyfish, he supplied all gear and transport and they all caught fish. And they had a great day.
Thanks forum, for the suggestion.
