0.1gr charge differences - whats your experience

I've just tricked up a load and thought I'd share my experience on this subject.

Tikka T3X Laminate 308 unsuppressed and bedded

After a ladder test it did 0.65MOA with 43.0gr at 100yard with 5 shot groups.

To get more of a feel for the node, I kept all other components exactly the same, which included shooting technique. I then tested 0.1gr increments on either side of it (42.8, 42.9, 43.0, 43.1, 43.2) and in doing so found it closed up to 0.50 MOA at 42.9gr.

Outside of 42.9 and 43.0, it progressively opened back up to 1MOA then +1MOA

Thought I would share my experience, and would be interested to hear others experiences with 0.1gr charge differences Smiley

Cheers I never get down to those small differences in weighing powder as my scales are probably not that accurate, but notice big differences even with the temperature of the bullet.

I dont usually bother shooting enough paper to tell either way... if a load is inch or better its plenty good enough for any hunting I will do...

My experience is that the biggest contributing factor is the temperature of the barrel, and that less than 0.2 becomes blurred with the human error factor.

Your findings don’t surprise me though. The barrel becomes like a guitar string when you fire, and it’s all about getting the vibration at the muzzle as small as possible, which is why you’re noticing the change.
