there is one for sale at the other pub now....but was it me I would buy one in the states and bring it home if permits to do so can be had.....they will be far cheaper over there.

Thatís a good idea MD but Iím planning to practice with the rifle and then head to the states hunting. Might try and import one, but not sure that can be done drama free.

If you can just buy one in the states. A Traditional side lock can be bought out of the U.S without issue as they are classed as Antique in the U.S. Inline ones are classed as firearms and need export permits to remove from the U.S.
Most towns I went to in the States had a shop selling Muzzle loading guns and gear , some were even Milk ,Bread and guns!!
It would be a pain to take one from NZ and bring it back.
