might have to do what we all have done at some time or another...go into google earth and look at public waterways, find what looks doable then walk it and see if anywhere not tagged....I predict there will be quite a few empty maimais this season as folks have held off buying licence then wont get time off work or just wont bother.....after opening weekend I GAURANTEE there will be plenty of empty maimais...after 8am you welcome/entitiled to use them, one of the great things about our gamebird rules...have you talked to fish n game yet??? they might have somewhere that will suit...cant hurt to ask. middle of a shingly riverbed isnt worst spot either...pull a few bits of driftwood, broom together and chuck decoys out around you....might not be many resident birds bt you will get pass shooting and some will commit and come in.

well went in and tagged number ,1, spot X bit of a walk for an old man, but fish / game will be pleased theirs a tag in taurangas only really decent spot thats left for public hunting
never saw any other tag nor any sign any ones been up that way for years room down there for at lest 5 maimais
i dont know why the young fellas dont get in there and build shame as there used to be about 7 or 8 maimais in down the river , fine openings have not helped never mind its done
tag the place or we are going to loss it guys
was expecting to see a tag or 3 in their with the covid and it maybe no traveling , but no didnt see any bit of a surprise really being thats about it folks in this town
