Click the link and watch the videos provided by 1news. Police say only one shot was fired? (regardless of whether he should of been shot or not) what do you think these so called "distraction devices" are? Sounds to me like multiple gun shots...

The Coroner will say for certain how many shots were put into the body.  So one would think it silly that the Police would falsify how many shots were fired.

There are many types of distraction charges. Some are just sound making, some are a single big bang, some are 5-10 shot enormous firecrackers, some have a lot of aluminium/magnesium powder in them to temporarily blind anyone looking at it when it goes off. Horses for courses.

Yep Police AOS here use distraction devices all the time mainly 3s 5s but I’m lead to believe they have 9 bangers as well which is typical in the US.
Not only do they flash and bang but the concussion effect is also part of the distraction package.
They’re bloody effective and do sound like multiple gunshots.

Good job. Congradulations on a successful outcome.

Nine banger stunnie.

Two bangers are most commonly used though.  I heard somewhere that prior permission must be gotten before using a nine banger because they sound like a burst of gunfire.
