Got a browning x bolt 300 win mag a while ago,26 inch barrel. After putting about 40 rds thru it,i cronyed 4 shots of Federal 180gr.Got a average of 3083ft/s.Is this a good velocity for Factory ammo of this weight?.At just under $60 a box compared to other ammo of $90+ a box. With the Hornady 180 ssts you only gain 150yds in distance and not much more with a 1000 lbs of energy.
Scope dials up to 40 moa=1250yds.
Got suppresser on it,took a bit of getting use to it with recoil. But its nice to shoot now,1/2 moa at 400 on a good day.Its got some wack on steel at 800yds alright.I have to get a better range finder.
Got a 5x30x56 scope on it,good dial up and clear glass,20 moa rail.Look out roos n deer.
The 300 win mag makes the 308 look a bit smallish. Wink

Shot a few deer, caugth some big trout and salmon

your getting 100 fps more than my 22 inch wsm,,federal are pretty spot on with their advertised velocity

It is much better to Hit the Animal in the right place, with a Rifle you can shoot well, then to hit it poorly with a Large Calibre..John Nosler
