You sure you have the right place. The Ohane I know is in the Urewera, I suppose that there could be another one lying around though

Its one of Chris Crosse's private blocks he leases off Iwi.

Ive been there. All bush with the odd open area and creek sides. Good hunting but Chris says it got a bit battered by the snow. He also says that because of that its not hunted so much now and the deer numbers have jumped.

BC. Jumped or dropped? If as you say they have jumped, then that cant be a bad thing! can it ? Shocked

Sika9 We have looked at the block in detail. If it does get poached i would think its in the area nearest the road! we are expecting to be miles away from there!
Though we will have a chat to Chris when the time comes about conditions on the ground etc! Cool

By jumped I meant increased. Yes, that's a good thing.

Fair old chunk of that country due for attention from Ospri in 2020. Repellent was used last time they were done, I recall.

I understand there have been recent TB breakdowns in herds down the Mohaka valley from SH 5, and at Te Haroto also, so might be even more on the horizon.

Yep and watch the sf and da and every other organisation that takes membership fees off hunters do nothing. "oh its ok if the timings right", "oh its ok if you use repellant", "yea we will tempt our members will a couple of lollies to maintain tracks, huts, trapping programs and to do docs job for them,  just so genuine bushman and hunters can take it edited HC maybe three times. " But shit line our pockets and get a free hat too".Sorry for the rant but these organisations are only focused on their own longevity not on the people who fund them.

How about we focus on the quite long list of actual positive stuff they do?

Had to delete that random comment or yours. We have automatic editing of most swear words, but you managed to find the chink in the Armour.

For some reason this post has gone astray!
Max. Just checked OSPRI operational site. They have NO drops intended for the north island listed for 2020. All South Island.👍

Thanks anyway for the info I did get.

Cheers

Kevin 😎

Watch this space, Yorky ....

My intention wasn't to hijack your thread.....just to note that if you are keen on one of those Ahimanawa blocks then I suspect the roar 2020 will be a better time to go than the next one.

As it is we will be going in at the back end of March, not sure if the Sika or the Reds that are said to be available, will be roaring then. We come out on the 3rd of April.
Will be nice just to be somewhere different!

Cheers

The Reds will be for sure. The Sika may still be thinking about it, but will be full on territory-sorting-out mode.
