	for those of us who can't afford Lapua brass what other brands would you recommend out of the usual suspects.. Winchester, prvi, federal, hornady, ....?

	Any of those, depending on what sort of shooting you do, but for the sort of accuracy you need for bush shooting, I'd go with any of them, make sure your dies are set up right for your rifles chamber, anneal the case necks to begin with & every few loads after that & keep your loads from being too hot & you should get OK case life. About the only cases I don't like, other than chinese or russian steel ones are S & B based on some .303 cases I had from them & also what I've read on here.

	Biggest component cost is the projectiles. Any mainstream calibres of .224 or .308 diameter will have bulk projs available, eg Rem 55s or 150s. They can be more than satisfactory in accuracy if you do your part.

	Considering that the guide line is the word "Budget" one would have to rule out, very accurate shooting, very exotic calibers, very exotic game, very heavy loads. Then upgrade the term, lead, especially cast projectiles, enhance the term moderate, as in 150 yds on Red deer and what have you got, a 30/30. My most loaded cartridge was in fact the 38 special case, fired in a 357 semi-auto pistol, a Coonan, and I fired some 10,000 rounds though it.

	The cheapest for me to reload has been the .222 Otherwise the cheapest is definately the .44-40 with casting my own bullets. I think I am reloading for something like $7.00 for a box of 20, and I could half that by changing powder to AP70 - works out to....ummm, carry the one, aah... = $4.00 for a box of 20. (I mean that got to be the cheapest. The brass lasts forever mostly. And it kills deer just fine if you can get them in under a 100 yards.)

	.223 or pistol caliber plenty of cheap 2nd hand brass on TM for 223 & 38 38/357 or 44 sp/44 mag means you can load subs more easily but the.222/223 family is low powder use and cheap projectiles with relatively good caae life

	Best brass is going, to depend on Caliber, winchester and hornardy brass are both resanable, I use both, .17 hornet, .264 win,7x57, 9.3x74, etc federal brass is very soft, likley wont get many loads, privi brass is good, but i found large vairance is weight/capicty S/B brass massive vairance in brass in my 7x64 its 20 plus grains vairance. weight sort and toss the worst, and you be ok.

	I went with the 308 but I am a bit overwhelmed by projectile choice. Nosler partitions, v-max, barnes ttx etc are all a bit pricey. I want an effective projectile for a 22" 1:10 barrel that is good for light to medium game (predominantly goats and fallows).

	bog std cup n core hornady interloct or something with speer on the box and you wont go far wrong. if you want Fun and cheap.....buy cast 151grn hp projectiles from Robert in Tokoroa..shooternz on the other pub..... trail boss...something like 8grns...or more if subsonic isnt issue and you will be popping rounds down range for ridiculously cheap....its like shooting .22lr but with huge projectile that will bounce if you hit something hard..... great fun goats n fallow you dont need super flash projectile...

	Thanks... I do like the i terlocks. The speer 130gr hp are a pretty good price and I have heard good things about them. Tossing up and down using 2208 or 2206h. I got some of robs 151gr. Has anyone tried them supersonic?
