RIP Pippa

A lot of you guys, especially older members, might remember when we got our GSP Pippa as a pup about nine years ago.

She developed into a bloody good dog, and a great companion. My two boys thought she was the best.

Unfortunately we lost her yesterday. She was clipped by a stock truck trailer while out for a run. She was going deaf and she got a fright as the truck went past and leapt out onto the road and into the trailer. Killed instantly. Obviously my wife saw the whole thing, so is pretty distraught. We're gutted.  Undecided

Anyway. That's life. They have a short life, and you know they'll go one day, but you don't realize how much they mean to you until they are gone. Buried her in the garden by the boys sandpit so they can still hang out.

Sorry man. Yes, its hard losing a good mate. My old GWP is getting really weak in his back legs now and we are not looking forward to the inevitable.
Your family will enjoy a new pup though, no doubt.

Sorry to hear that.  Based on your posts I'd say she covered more miles than most.

Cheers, Dan

Josh, sorry for you, and your family, I know how you feel, when a four-legged hunting mate departs for good.    Cry

Take a bit of solace from this,..... too true.

“The Power of the Dog”

THERE is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and Sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.

Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie—
Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear.

When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet’s unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find—it’s your own affair—
But … you’ve given your heart to a dog to tear.

When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!).
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone—wherever it goes—for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear.

We’ve sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent.
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we’ve kept ’em, the more do we grieve:
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-time loan is as bad as a long—
So why in—Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

                                  Rudyard Kipling

Get as close as you can, then get a bit closer.

Sad to hear Josh, it’s a bugger she never got her well earned retirement years, 9 years of memories that you will cherish forever. RIP Pippa
