A great block, you’ll love it. Easy access to both sets of tops. Nice variety of country and a pretty cool little hut.

Hopefully Helisika have spent some money on the hut as it could do with a  touch up. I'm not fussy but they charge enough per night to demand something adequate... even DOC huts have a higher standard  Grin

The bush was pretty thick when i was in there a few years back and i didn't find there were good numbers of animals floating about but you need to get away from the hut area so take a fly and go fly camping

Was there during winter this year. Hut is rough. Smoked out every night and my sleeping bag still stinks.

Apart from that it's a great spot. True right  across the syream is private land so don't hunt there. All the land behind the hut is fair game. We spooked animals on all the ridges and the knob down stream had good sign.

Upstream to the ngaroro head waters hold some numbers but is a hike from the hut. Some steep country.

Tops would be my bet for April. Yes fly camp on the bush edge and get to the tops early.

If you are referring to the red a frame ,it used to be a Lakeland / air charter taupo block . There are some good areas up behind the hut including some areas above the Bush line . Just remember anything on the opposite side of the stream, true right all the way to the corner above the Boyd ,including right up to the saddle that goes over into the mangamaire  is another block. In times gone by people have crossed the creek and hunted the areas of bush and above causing some problems for the hunters on that block.
