Hawkes bay deer and access

Was going to head into kawekas from mangatutu camp but with rain and more to come the ford will be unpassable to explore up that way.
Are there any alternatives to drive to a spot for a day hike for deer stalking that would be accessable to public?
And does anyone know of hunting downstream from glennfalls camp via mohaka? Apparently someone jet boats down 30kms and shoots deer.

Any advice or tips appreciated.

Access to the Kawekas via Whittle road or several access points up the Napier Taihape road.
No hunting down from Glenfalls as such so probably poaching unless they managed to get a permit from the relevant landowners.
