	I'm spending a week in Hahei in February next year. Can someone please tell what patterns I should tie to fish the local streams thanks in advance rob

	dont forget about the salt, not a lot of trout around there but there is some, nzfishing.com

	If its of any help I had a nice 3lb rainbow out of the coro area on the weekend on the way to play some golf at Whangamata. There are fish around but not heaps. I would not normally take a fish, but this one had a damaged eye and was bleeding a bit, so we smoked it. Stomach was full of nymphs and brown beetles. Fish dry& droppers and keep your nymph patterns patterns small. PT and caddis are fine. PM if you need more deets. Take a spinning rod for the big pools too

	Thanks for the replies. I'm happy to play on some streams for a change. It's a family holiday, my 4th visit to Hahei and I thought I'd give myself a day or two on a stream. Don't really care about size or numbers, just happy to toss a fly about. rob

	If you are at Hahei, then the waiwawa is your nearest. Fish & game pamphlet is online and useful. alternative is to try the southern estuary on cooks beach with a fly. its awesome enjoy

	hey Robz, how did you get on? i was on the tairua river on Sunday for 2 hours. some nice small fish were about and willing to take nymphs and lures
