Magaturuturu hut Ruapehu

Hey guys , thinking of heading into magaturuturu hut late December for a few nights for the first time. Can anyone give advice on the hunting there , where to look, animal numbers etc cheers

Looks like a nice place on the map. You'll have to report back,with pics, when you've been there.

It will be high use with trampers and tourists so be good to them and take care.

Being such an easy walk in, on probably one of the most popular tramping tracks on that side of the  mountain it will be quite busy, be warned the bush is not the friendliest in many areas. 

I would probably stick to hunting the river or stream edges first 2-3 hours each day and again on evening, usually moving upstream is best in the morning until the sun starts pulling your scent up hill usually around 9-9.30 am, then head bush and stalk your way back down, probably  a few hundred metres inland  is best.
