Morning wander

Had to work an afternoon shift at work yesterday so took the opportunity to head out for a morning hunt. Left the truck when it was just light enough to see and headed up the creek. Again as the last time I was here crossing the minefeild of spaniards was not very enjoyable but once through them the going is not as bad. Slowly climbed the ridge spending a lot of the time glassing the hills around me. The wind was very strong and gusting hard but always in my favour which was good.

After 2.5 hours I was at a spot where I could glass most of the basin although nothing seemed to be around. I slowly scanned across each face hoping to find something bedded down in the tussock but to no avail. Only animal I did see looked to be a dead deer next to one of the creeks about 500 metres away. Photo isn't great as taken on phone through binos. Carcase looked fully intact so might ask DoC if any culling has been done in area. Not a bad walk for the morning, just reinforced the fact I need more time on the hills to get the fitness up.

always great to get out for a walk and stalk. If you wanted to do a bit of fitness at home to help with hill prep I put together a home based exercise video which may be of help? https://youtu.be/Zu0FnXn_pmY

Thanks Michael, I was doing your workout now and then after you first posted it a few months ago. Works bloody well too, especially noticed core strength improvement. Must get a bit more motivated and keep at it. Cheers, Dan.

It is much better to Hit the Animal in the right place, with a Rifle you can shoot well, then to hit it poorly with a Large Calibre..John Nosler
