amphibious boats history

Hello all - am doing some research on early amphibious systems for boats - more than for cars that can go briefly on water.  Have got a fair bit of stuff through to 1960, esp WW2.  Am interested in any history, NZ or anywhere from 1960 through to 2005.  Kiwis are pretty good at this type of innovation but no doubt there will be lots of commercial and non commercial examples around?
Thanks.

Anyone heard of Kian Marine?  Apparently they had a commercial amphibian boat going in the nineties, small and light, about 16 foot.
