Well its that time again, nominations have opened for this years elections.  Whats the big topic for this year, captive duck breading? game bird numbers?  Declining water quality for Trout?
Who is considering standing for their region

Always the same issue here in Canterbury.. declining water quality and lack of quantity.  Salmon runs in the past few years are awful and sea run trout are pretty much the same.

Nth Canty F and G are trying hard but ECAN are making it difficult.

Duck hunting.
Its been a cracker season, best for a number of years for me anyway. Birds in good condition and seemed to be more about. Maybe a spin off from the wetter than normal summer last year ?

A big issue I can see coming up for Lake Ellesmere hunters will be access. We have a few irresponsible people both hunters and hoons driving 4wds all over the shoreline . I have seen drone footage and it is ugly and in your face . Yarrs has already been closed and i can see others areas such as Embankment Road going the same way.

Grate to see Fed farmers getting involved, would be nice to get the odd farmer on the councils , ie fish n game . Would level the playing field a little ! Smiley They might be able to get some of these ecan types to understand that large numbers of game birds are part of the problem with water quality, and ecoli..itís 90% of ellesmeres problem. Duck 💩 and geese.swans.bring on the results.. Smiley
