Algae bloom in Hauraki Gulf

Here is my latest fishing video/vlog, I came across a patch of red/brown water, thought this may be an algae bloom? would this make the fishing hard?

Depending on what kind of bloom it was, some algal blooms can clog the gills of fish if concentrated enough. Or displace o2 levels.
I would think most fish would distance themselves from blooms etc.
  

Its the nut behind the butt, that counts.
