What do you consider entry level spotting scopes. By that I mean ones that you can effectively use without spending 3-4 k?
Thinking of around the 20-60x65 size

Have looked thru the Konus  ($270)...only clear on 40 power. Fully zoomed out hard to focus on animals but for the price does a good job.
Only other one I have looked thru was a Nikon prostaff from memory...smaller I think less zoom but was slightly clearer and better focus...
Im gunna go down cam corder road i think....more compact and easier to use i think....

I havnt looked down the camera rd yet. The only spotting scope i have looked through was a piece of crap, couldn't see a clear animal at 500m. This is not what im after. So where do the decent ones start.

Get an older Kowa, seen them on TM quite cheap and they are very good glass.

Yep Nikon fieldscope. Ed60 or ed82 on parr with swarvo. Compared side by side Guiding in BC Canada, nothing between them. Good prices on Ebay. With home made digiscope, bloody great scopes at reasonable prices.

The world is not full of arseholes. But, they are strategically placed so you'll come across one every day.
