Helicopter crash north east of Waiouru
Jun 14th, 2018 at 2:04pm
Print Post
Hi all
Just heard a machine with 5 on board went down this morning. Luckily no deaths but one with critical injuries. The area reported the crash occurred in was 35 km north east of Waiouru and is the Kaimanawa Ranges and includes the Helisika private blocks. I hope all recover quickly and thoughts to the families of those on board.
If it was a flight carrying passengers heading in for a hunt some are probably members of the forum.
Regards
Ruger

It was conducting commercial surveying operations in the area.

That description appears to say something and actually tells nothing?  What is  'commercial surveying operations'???

Certainly hope all involved recover speedily. Its never nice to be in one of those when they stop flying unintentionally.

Its not a joke, and this isn't face book.

You are talking about a tragic accident here that has seriously injured well respected and loved people who were going about their legitimate business.

As with all serious accidents my thoughts immediately go to those injured and their families.

Sadly, the crash has turned fatal, with the news that Ren Apatu (co-owner of Ngamatea) has passed away due to injuries received. Condolences to whanau and friends.

Thats a good example of not commenting until the facts are known... Smiley I'm sure turtle really didn't mean it in any other way than a flippant comment about not trusting doc, ospri or helicopter hunters hahhahahaha
Its moved on from that now to be tragedy for a family and an iconic station in NZ as well as the Hawkes Bay business world.

Yep. a very sad day.
They're unforgiving beasts when they come down.
Thoughts to all families and friends involved.
