Another cool day out with the boys

Decided to take the boys hunting this weekend even though the weather wasn't perfect.

We were kindly granted access to a place down central plateau where we expected a good walk but the station owner being a good bugger kindly loaned us a quad bike which the kids were chuffed with.

We got down the back, saw a group of animals some 600 metres away and closed the gap and got as close as we could which was still 274 mtrs.

I got Jamie all lined up but with the wind swirling up and then down and we weren't exactly the most stealthiest individuals on the hill they decided to head to greener pastures.

We then walked on and bumped into two more animals but they wondered over the next hill.

All seemed just about lost as we were starting to run out of light when we came across a loan spiker just out from the bush edge around 120 mtrs away.

Jamie got down, lined him up with the mighty EBRG. He was facing us with head down so I told him to shoot him in the head when he became more alert and started heading towards the bush.

A quick whistle and he stopped and no sooner had he stopped when Jamie shot with that ever pleasing twack sound of the bullet striking home.

The spiker did the little jump in the air as Jamie chambered another fresh round but the little spiker ran around in a circle before keeling over giving his last few kicks.

This is now Jamie's third deer.

As light was fading we took a couple of photos as it was lightly raining before I headed back to where we'd parked the quad bike.

I got back to the boys, we gutted him where I was thinking of tasty fried heart and onions until I pulled out the heart and it was cut in two  Cry so no heart and onions.

We loaded the spiker on the quad and no sooner had we tied him down when it started raining so it was a slow ride back where we were drenched but even though we were wet, the boys didn't complain and loved it.

Today was butchery day so the boys got to put to use their new Bahco's courtesy of X-POACHER-YEAHRYT... THANKYOU that man!  Cool Cool Cool
