Hi everyone, what are peoples experience with hand loading 110gr in a .308. has a surpressor.
What powders are we all using with good success ,
Am wanting to set it up for a young fulla to shoot some goats and fallow, so has any one done this or has any one down loaded it a bit to reduce recoil etc.
has any one used these pills on game etc and at what range . Smiley

I load 130gr Speers in 308, but haven't tried 110gr. I also use 125gr Sierra prohunters in 30-30 that I reckon would be well suited to a slow 308 load.
The V max are varmint bullets aren't they? Personally I refuse to use varmint bullets on larger game, but I know lots of people do.
The 30-30 projectiles are designed for velocities 400fps slower than standard 308 so should penetrate and expand well in a low power load. I would try a published 308 starting load first.
I use ADI AR2208 powder, AR2206h is another option.

130 grn speer hp "handgranades" are just the berries.... they work fine at 7.62x39mm velocity so a down loaded .308 will be fine.
have read good things about new plastic tipped SMK too in simalar role to what you are asking.
another cheap option that I KNOW works well are the 125grn nosler ballistic tips (you can buy discoloured ones cheap off trademe Wink) at 7.62x39mm speeds we have had bang flops on deer and pigs to 50 yards no fuss no bother, simple solid front chest shots.
win 748 good powder to use for this.
