Deer hunters should have taken care of them during nthe roar mate . Just keep a dog in the hut , rats dont like them.
Are you flying in with Dave Lealand ?????

Right Branch Hut is a great place and I love it in there but unfortunately haven't been for a couple of years. I didn't see any rats last time but there's always plenty of mice. Worth taking a few traps and keep all your food in a plastic box with a lid if you can otherwise they get in to everything and you'll be awake all night chasing them.  Fireplace was okay but it did get a bit smokey the last time we lit it. There was mattress last time I was there and they were okay, some better than others. Good luck.

Was gonna use Derek from Murupara.
What company is dave with?
To take my pig dogs they have to have an ear tattoo. Canít find anyone local to do it.
I can get it done at Taneatua but itís 4 hours drive from here.

awesome place, the huntings good, the bush is good, a few nettles in the riverbed tho, Dave from helihire does a good service, good luck, put a post up when you come out, reds, rusa and pigs there, not too many rats when we were there, but it is close to winter & they like it when ya light the fire & bring food so take some bait Wink

Hate trying to sleep with rats and mice rustling around the hut. Angryif you take bait in with you it will give them something to take their mind off your food

yeah even worse if your sleeping in tents. Grin I always take a few possum traps as well and get a bit of possy fluff as well especially if you fly in bush
