Roll Eyes not a good day for me and the girl, ended up in not a great place but thats my  circumstances, and age it was the easiest for me  ,  had a few shots at geese  about 3 missed them and missed seeing the easy one , had a shot at a duck which should have been in the bag , most birds where flying high and no birds at dawn  came into  us  and as the day went the geese started to fly  most ly like what few duck we saw stuck to the middle of the river or passed out of range  i punted at a couple but as the area and what the birds are doing in the area where they where flighting to  etc ,  has changed  the birds where just not interested in decoying to where i was  and we  as the place was a last minuet change to where we where going , with not much cover  first option was taken  we had a great day. good to do  with most of the birds working the area staying high and not decoying well  there where at lest  7 groups of guns in the area and all the ponds where being shot but not a great meany birds about  maybe later in the season ,   all good  had to be done  Smiley

Thanks for posting willy.  Smiley

Shame things didn't go your way. You'll no doubt be glad you managed to get out for a shot anyway.

Hopefully things will pan out for you during the season.

Looks as the weather would have worked against a lot of hunters in various parts of the country.

She was a bright blue sunny day yesterday. Managed around 40 ducks for the day between 7 guys.

Went out again in the evening and there was no flight at all.

Today was also slow going.  Ducks were super cautious.  Would do 20 laps of the pond never dropping into range then bugger off.

Three of us shot in the Reporoa area, reached our limits by 11-00 am which is only 4 and shot 3 swan, no parries as they didn't seem to want to decoy where we were. Two of us shot again Sunday and we reached our limit again, 2 quail as well.

Very slow for us this year, only pulled about 30 into the pond and shot 27 of them. Couple of long days when you are expecting to shoot 5 - 6 times that ... like every other opening in the past. There were hardly any ducks flying, even at thousands of feet. We were told duck numbers were down, and our own lack of duck sightings leading up to Saturday supported this. Anyway, we had a ball as normal. Looking forward to the rest of the season. 13th year for our crew shooting together now too. Neat milestone.
