What is going on?

Why are TH and BC not participating?

They both used to double team me and at times they would bring in a third party (sidney was one) to prove a point.

Where are my old adverserys?

Bloody hell Marty, as much as I like you you've thrown the glove down - and I can't help but respond.

In TH, BC and Sidney's absence I nominate 'Headcase' as a worthy candidate to square up against you.

And 'Micky Duck' can second him.

And I'll go get a coffee.

If ya just looking for someone to call you names I'm sure that can be arranged Smiley

My mum used to say exactly the same thing - and now I say it to my kids.

Case in point - they would refer to a family of kids on the school bus as 'big heads' - because they had big heads and were troublesome.
Told them they couldn't say that anymore - then one day I saw those kids and had to tell mine they could call them that - but in a nice way.

Many Children today seem oblivious to what Respect, Empathy or having manners is all about.
We had 3 grandkids out on the boat yesterday, 3yr old, 6 yr old  and a 7 yr old.  They caught some nice fish,  all 3 of them said "Phuck yea" as I netted each fish for them. Shocked Shocked Shocked
Bad language apparently is allowed in extreme bouts of excitement, but only when fishing or after shooting a deer.

At grandmas house it is totally forbidden for adults to swear, never mind children, ocasionally a tradesmen or visitor experiences an annoyed red headed grandma telling them off.  Grin Grin

They pick it up at school Ice - don't know how many times I've told them they can't use that language until they're 32.
After one such incident my littlest one (4) looked me square in the eye and said -

"Dad, is f**king shit a swearword ?"
"Oh yep - can't use that until you're 34."

Afterwards I asked my wife - "Where did that come from ?"
"Preschool, you'd be surprised what they pick up there."

One of my funniest arguments was with my mother in law over my use of the word 'bloody'.

"I find that word unacceptable".
"What is acceptable ?"
"If you have to swear at all, then I find the word 'bugger' acceptable."
"Well, my mum wouldn't use that word because of its connotations re buggery and preferred to use the word bloody."

And so it went.

I don't swear much around home, but because of my double-standards have no hesitation doing so here - and you just made me think about the younger audience out there.

Respect is another matter, I don't know if you can teach that, I think it comes with watching and listening to your parents - and experience.

And empathy, I think you either have or you don't. One of my kids does, very strongly while the other two struggle with it and that is always of concern - and I don't know how to fix that.

I have a very low EQ which I just found out - and that makes me a black and white person - and I don't know if I was always like that - or became like that.
I told the neighbour up the road and he simply told me I was always an inconsiderate bastard, then reminded me of the time he asked to borrow my chainsaw ..........

"It's broken mate - and I wouldn't loan it to you even if it wasn't."

I don't know - I think you just do the best with what you've got.

Well the lefties decided that discipline wasn't that important at school and I believe after that every thing else followed, be it manners, etiquette, empathy, respect and worse of all the ability to read and write and mathletics (thankfully mine early schooling wasn't in NZ). And of course the common trait often seen, even in this fine site of "I"m right, f#ck the rest of you"  Huh

Hey mate, pretty boring for readers when ya  re-telling the same sort of story over and over. There comes a point when its just better to listen (read)  than to speak (write).
besides my photo bucket account seemed to crash or got taken over?

I have no problem re-hashing over and over - half of what I tell is lies anyway.
And the other two thirds isn't.
