The Valley of Green & Gold **Video Clip**

Join Peter de Boer and myself as we venture deep into a stunning river valley situated in New Zealand's lower North Island this weekend just gone. The sound of Cicada's fill the valley, dancing hues of green & gold at every turn and the rivers inhabitants, eager to rise to these tasty floating morsels... Life does not get any better when you're in surroundings like this!

Pretty quick this one mate, about 5 hours total, they might look polished, but are quite quickly put together, as usual finding soundtracks is the hardest part! Cheers

Nice one Andrew. Love them Cicada's.  Cool
What do you think of the Mavic Air?  about the size of a well stocked fly-box-small enough to fit in the vest pocket.
With front-rear-bottom obstacle avoidance technology.
Cheers.

Cheers Heacase, Baz. I really like the look of it! Addresses many of the Mavic's shortcomings and has some great great 4k frame rates. I think it would be an even better option than the pro for fishing and will look at getting one myself. Half the weight, not the same distance, but long range is not a priority if filming fishing. Battery life is okay but not as good as the Mavic's real world 20-24mins.

Hang fire Andrew-I'am picking that DJI will bring out the Mavic Pro 2 soon. Autel have brought out the EVO which by all accounts is serious competition for DJI.
The Evo has a built in viewing screen on the controller-and does away with the need for a cell phone-although that can also be used.
I like the look of the EVO-might be my next uav. Release is in march I think-so keep an eye out for Mavic 2 coming out soon.
Link for Evo here. With some specs. 4k x 60fps for example.

Meanwhile tight lines- and keep making awesome vids.
Cheers.

Looks good, agree integration of the screen would eliminate the shortfalls of the Mavic and cross-platform android / apple issues! Hmmmmm food for thought Baz... I really the smaller drones for chucking in your pack, sick of lugging heavy shit round!

yeah, usual standard TB, well done.

a few Q's if you don't mind?

Budget for a decent drone?
Should I look for integrated camera or generic gimble? I have a go pro hero 4
Do you need a fishing buddy or can you shoot solo with ease?
Cell coverage needed  if using mobile to control drone?

Could ask at Dick Smiths i suppose, but being called mate or bro every 10 words from someone I've never met doesn't appeal.

As mentioned above Nomad-The mavic air is highly portable and takes good quality video and stills. Link here to NZ supplier.
http://ferntech.co.nz/
But I'am waiting to see what DJI is about to release with the Mavic pro 2.
I use a phantom 2 with a gopro 3 on a zenmuse gimbal with 5.8ghz wireless link-Old technology but has never let me down.
Meanwhile I'am waiting for the new DJI release.
The new tech allows you to film solo-the mavic air for example has a fly-around function-where it focuses on you while doing a flying circle-also has a follow me function. The downside is you need a cell phone app to view the cameras perceptive.
