We got Upper Greenstone, end of April.
We could walk in, but would prefer to chopper in to the middle of the block.
I have been told that Heli Glenorchy don't have DOC landing rights at present. What other operators are worth contacting?
Thanks

Heli Glenorchy do have landing rights and are the cheapest by a country mile ....it is a prevailing down valley wind so best to stay bottom of block at Rats Nest (permission required)

Also pay to check exactly where Heli Glenorchy can drop you, last year they couldn't drop us outside the doc hut, instead they dropped us down on the valley floor, 20min from the hut, they didn't mention it while we were loading a couple of 20kg bags of coal in or when I booked it.  Roll Eyes

Thanks for that guys, including re prevailing winds.
When I emailed Heli Glenorchy yesterday they advised that they lost their landing rights last year due to reasons outside of their control'' and are hoping to have them reinstated within the next few weeks. Time will tell.

I stand corrected ...spoke to them this morning and it is not looking good for them to get landing rights ... and the other option is ridiculously priced  .... Luckily all the blocks are really easy foot access, especially the Caples where most people walk of fly past some of the best hunting.

Great trip, We had 5 days of clear, frosty weather & walked out just before that snow storm hit. I think we saw 22 animals between us which included a few reds. Saw a white buck which was cool. A lot of snow which cut out some prime country.

One shot, two missed  Embarrassed by one of the lads
