Great to watch, thanks for posting. One of my favourite birds, (well, with feathers anyway). I used to enjoy watching them on our block, early in the morning, both of us hunting the early morning light. Then the 1080 came to a neighbouring property, no Karearea for about 4-5 years, still have not reached their earlier numbers over our bush.

Cool! Crazy to see them on the ground though! European falcon is always nesting waaaaay high up on tower-like rocks with crevices so pretty much impossible to see the young ones!
Shoot, cure, eat, repeat!

BC she had 3 or 4 eggs, I didn't want to get too close until they hatched, then I looked and all there was, was the one chick, no sign of the other eggs.

You take some great vids. Was there any predator control in the area?

Yes there are stoat traps, but there are some wild cats that come through time to time, and are trap shy, they are the main worry. Hopefully the chick is in the trees by now.
