Put a layer of 3M Micropore tape (25mm available from ya Chemist) on ya heels before you start. It's skin coloured and basically turns into your skin after an hour or two.
Then Bridgedale 'CoolMax' sock liners, then any other sock you like the colour of over that. You could wear high heels all day and wouldn't have any blisters with this setup and the 3M tape stays on pretty well when wet too.  Wink

Usually blisters are due to your boots not fitting properly. I have used Lowa Tahoe's (pretty much halfway between the Ranger and Tibet) for a while now. I wore them with Bridgedale socks but to be honest any sock was fine. Never needed to bed them in or anything, they were magic. The boots felt like they were custom made for my foot but Lowa don't make them anymore and my last pair are stuffed. I have now bought a pair of the Lowa Rangers which have way more space over the top of the foot - end result being my foot moves around. Haven't done a big mission in them yet but I can see blisters in my future!
I reckon I will be in your position after my first long walk in the Rangers and if that is the case I will throw them on TM and get something that fits like my old Tahoes.

Awesome thanks guys for the advice. Sounds like investing in a good pair of socks and making sure the boots fit properly is the goer. That and just taking a concrete pill to toughen up my blisters Tongue

Will likely fit my new boots with a single thickish sock, then if I ain't enjoying that, I still have room in the boot to go back to a two sock setup.

Appers.

In the good old walking days, before SXS's, I used to use Bridgedale socks with  Coolmax liners. I found Bridgedales to cost twice as much, but last 3-4 times longer than your average sock. Give the liners a try, well worth it.

Check out the Ampro website, for a full range of Bridgedale socks & liners available in NZ, well worth a look.

Get as close as you can, then get a bit closer.

A sock I like are Norsewear Rangers' - they're so good my missus flogs them.
If I'm out for any time, the only other thing I'll wash apart from my three teeth - are my feet and sox.
Trusty said it - look after your feet.
If your boots are a touch loose wear a thin pair underneath to take up slack - otherwise it's just the one pair.
I got Meindl Pro's too - shoved my feet straight into them possuming and they never gave any trouble whatsoever.
Even wore them minus sox and liners when my feet got fat - and still no trouble.

Am wondering if you have ill formed feet - or even damage of some sort from wearing shitty shoes or the like.
I know that happens - seen some bloody ugly feet out there.

Boot fit as others alluded to. Ive had leather boots for years which always resulted in blisters, just strapped feet and got on with it. Got a good fitting pair of HAIX and never had a blister since, even walking in creeks for hours.

If your having problems try putting you boots in a warm bath then going for a gentle walk. The leather stretches and moulds around your feet. So not too vigorous or you may stretch them too much.  Also get a new pair of socks (I prefer Thorlos) and use those when you buy boots to get the size right. If you use old socks they can be 1/2 size smaller. I have 3 pairs of boots on the go at the moment and I bought one pair at a show and they are 1/2 a size too small. OK with old thin socks but not new ones. If you use fresh socks they have a lot of cushioning.  Last resort try this - put a slippery layer (like a supermarket shopping bag) between the boot and the socks. Or Slik tape. But ideally the boots should be not sliding on your feet anyway.
