Planning on first tahr hunt (meat only) for early February and wandering if anyone could point out places worth looking.

Would like to focus on Rangitata/Macaulay area, however dont have "real" 4wd,just a 4x4 van so any river crossings or harder off-road is out of question as I need the van for work couple says later  Tongue

We are both reasonably fit buggers but lack any real alpine skills/gear.Walking for couple of hours doesnt worry us so much as long as theres some animals to bring back home...  Cool

Bush Creek, Alma Stream, Black Birch all easily accessible with your van. And theres enough animals to fill your freezer. Wont need to go too high in Feb
