I walked up and across a little stream by the highway the other day. It was called the Buller!

The Ngaruroro at Kuripapango is low and dropping. Hard to see anybody rafting down from the bridge. The Tukituki is low and dropping. River bed very slippery to walk across. The hills are definitely showing a brown arid colouring. Went trout fishing up another local river yesterday. Another fisherman came down on his 4wheeler and obligingly gave me a ride saving a monstrous walk. Didn't ask him to put the dogs up on the bike. Grin The river was very low and the trout very spooky but 1 got fooled and returned. Wink

Its a bit of a worry with the Mohaka low, warm and slimy (before this storm). I reckon we have watched that river get smaller for the last decade...I have been meaning to have a look at historic flows.
