Can I transfer my hundreds of pics on photobucket back to be saved on my computer? A lot of them are only saved on photo bucket, and I don't have copies.

Also, I understand that you can only upload through here on f&h if you are a donator (of money). So its not too dissimilar to what photo bucket are doing? Yes?

I don't donate money to f&h and am reluctant to. It might sound precious but I figure I (and most) donate plenty through my contributions which in turn make the site attractive to advertisers.

IM in the same boat. The fact of the matter is, right not the site is in choas. One cant log in, it doesnt display properly, and if you get in it crashes sooner or later. You can down load in theory.

There facebook page indicates what a great business move this was. They may never recover.

The problem is that it costs money to host photos as they take up a lot of space...If I was to allow image hosting I would have to pay out at least another 100-200 a month.  Even now I'm faced with having to look at a bigger server to service the growing forum and I dont make any real money from the forum. Most months I'm paying for it out of my pension.... so cry if like but that's the reality of it..
I dont have a set fee on donations as I know quite a few are students etc but even 5.00 shows an appreciation and goes a little bit towards the server costs.  Some great members here that donate from 20.00 to 100 bucks and they are just brilliant and sooo much appreciated and that helps us have a low fee for the students.
If you want `image shop to work you need to help contribute so we can get a larger server.. . or pay $400.00 us$ a year to photobucket.   Smiley
Its a cruel world... and photobucket just made it crueler..

Alan, has Image-Hut on the Forum saved all the photos that
donor members have posted  using it?

I've stated this before, $50 annual donation = $1 per week
                                $25 annual donation = 50c per week
even I can afford that out of my pension, and well worth it.

This is all very disturbing  - and I don't know why ?

I opened a 'freebie account' with Photobucket and sent off two photos I would have liked to put on here, but they never got there, so I went 'Gold' on here to use Image-hut - but that has me equally buggered.
I guess that makes me a 'Technocantdo' which is disappointing - because for a short while I aspired to be a Technonerd.

f**kit - I'm biffing the camera and going back to the good old wood block prints.

That's different to how my wife's Scottish grandaddy said it - but then he was a MacBean which I believe is the rarest of the rare for the possible reason he was the only one who ever admitted being one.

Never ever trust getting something "for free", I did that once, and ended up paying maintenance for years n' years. Grin Grin

Was it that "condom-over-thumb" situation?  Wink

Back to Topic: This really sucks! I was just reading the old roar comp and hunting stories and without pics its just like vanilla icecream w/o choc sauce....

I'm having trouble understanding any of it Alan.
I read Blackbunny's directions and got totally lost because I don't understand a lot of what he says.
For example, how wide is a pixel - I wouldn't have a clue - and he talks about stuff I never heard of.

I only have the two photos - wanted to put them in the BP section, but in truth they're pretty shabby photos.

And another truth is I don't mind if they don't get on there - and I didn't mind flicking you some dosh as it probably takes a few bob to run something like this.

I like my name in gold too - I feel more important somehow.

You are important hahahha   Grin
and pixels are a "dot"... and used as a measurement when working in images..
most graphics programs will measure in pixels...
If its too confusing then dont try.... you might scare us with the photos.. hahahha

My wife reckons that she can get my photos out of the bucket. Dont ask me how but I am waiting.

Not too worried as they are all backed on my computer as well.

Not the first of these 'free' hosting sites to close or worse hold your photos to ransom.A curse of the digital age.

Is photobucket working again? Images seem to be able to posted once again. Maybe they buckled under the pressure.
