fitting chains the lazy way

Hi everyone. Went and spent a day with a mate on his station a couple of weekends ago just after the snow fell. he said he had to put chains on his truck. knowing that this is a process that nobody enjoys and even worse if its cold and muddy/snowy. I showed him a little trick and thought i would share with everyone as it is handy and makes life easy.

a lot of people probably already know this trick and so will know how handy it is.

What you need:
vehicle
chains
blocks of wood (pieces of 2x4 will do nicely)

what you do:

place blocks infront of tyres the chains are going on drive vehicle onto blocks so they are central under the tyres.

throw chains over the top of the tyres and secure clips at bottom. try and position chains so you can get them as tight as possible then fit the tensioner rings to outside. cable tie or wire any loose ends somewhere out of the way and drive off the wood. now you are good to go.

happy chain fitting to all!

If you don't like bending down so far, lay the chains over/around the block of wood then you can fasten them at the top  Wink

Just leave them on all year. Works a treat.  Cheesy
