Hi there.

Just doing my homework for a 6.5 Grendel specifically a new upper. Just after peoples thoughts and experiences on it as a deer/Cham round that the mrs could use aswell as when I want something abit lighter.

Cheers

All the information and encouragement to get into a Grendel can be found here.

I have been shooting (my) wildcat Grendel max in a custom mini mauser for a couple of years and find it to be a superb little cartridge

264KM, what sort of performance are you getting from the 204 case. I see it has a 33gn water capacity where my GM case has 38.5 which allows me to run the 123gn A-Max/SST bullets to 2700fps and the 100gn TTSX to 2950fps.
On the Grendel forum a guy just killed an cow elk (wapiti) at 125yds with a 123gn SSt

i have a good friend that ordered an ultra light arms
chambered in this 6.5 grendel and got it just in time to work up a good load for hunting with.
he had it with him for a mule deer hunt a few weeks back and it performed very well. he took 2 nice size mule deer bucks [ 250-275 lb live wt . ] both at 125 yrds and both a single shot to each. to early to tell but it looks like when it is loaded with a good bullet for the job you want it to do it is working good.

264magic  your 6.5 on that 204 case is working good for you on all game up to elk size ?
i have 4 rifles chambered in .257 on that case [ 222 rem mag or 204 ] i use much light bullets then you it looks like . i use the 8ogr TTSX in 1 and the 100gr nosler partition in another. both have work great so far on game up to elk size

i got what i wanted,,otherwise i would still have my 260
on the grendel site they only get 2500 or so with the 123sst
i killed my wapiti cross at 256 yrds,,he only took three wobbly steps

i think a lot of the posted loading data they are using in the black guns . for the few bolt guns using this and loading for it are getting even better results .
its always nice to see the guys that are taking these smaller rounds and getting so much from them when they take the time to do all of there homework and hand load . light recoil shoots for nice groups and i feel much nicer to carry for hunting . win win win  Smiley
