Enlarged lymph nodes in all four legs of red yearling

G'day there,

When boning out the legs of a yearling a mate shot on the weekend, we found the lymph nodes to be unusually huge (normally never even notice them they are so small). These were the length of my thumb from tip to 2nd joint.

I cut one open and there was some slight discoloration, wasnt gritty to cut tho, wasnt pussy either.

The deer appeared to be in good condition, apart from looking pretty crappy in the coat as it was molting.

My mate didnt really have a good look at the internal organs like we would normally, as the bullet fragments had gone in there and made a bloody mess. We didn't notice the lymph nodes until boning them out later.

We are now concerned that there was something wrong with the deer, and we should biff the meat. With the nodes being enlarged in all 4 legs we're thinking its a body wide thing.

Here are some pics i took of the node in one of the front shoulders.

I'm guessing it could be pretty hard to tell much from these pics, but any light you could shed on it would be much appreciated.
