Along the same lines as the tough guy challenge I'm looking for person's who wish to take part in the rough fly challenge. Are your flys rough enough?
Last season I caught fish on some crazy bits of chewed up fur and feather. I thought that with the new season underway I would make a challenge to myself (and others) to try and catch fish on the roughest fly possible. Whether it is a fly that has no insect resemblance what so ever or that fly that has caught so many fish you cant remember what it was originally. I have a deer hair cicada patton that is now just a matted hairy mess but it still catches fish. Who's up for a challenge? If your fly tying is shit you are in with a chance.
The only things i really need is water, a gun and rabbits.

I've been a bit slack with this thead. My internet connection is as slow as a long wet weekend while on call. Like this one. Nomads no real guidelines, if you can catch a trout on a bit of shoe lace or f*g packet tied to a hook lets hear about it otherwise just rough pattons that have landed fish. Here's a pick of what was a ciciada patton. It's chewed up, the hook is bent but those dumb Waipa tributary browns don't seem to mind.

There was a guy that had a sports shop in Taihape on the left hand side as you drove north. He made the best "rough" flies I think I have ever seen. I think he dubbed the fur on between 2 pieces of tying thread... I think ?

I guess this doesn't count as it was made a couple of seasons ago, and it wasn't "tied"
Still did the business on the top of Mataura, and buggered if I am going to pay $3.50 for a willow grub fly!!
If you weren't such a prolific poster and catcher of decent fish, I'd say you are a disgrace with a fly like that, and deserve to win the comp. Its brilliant.
Like a cane chair at a nudist camp, always leave an impression.
