one trick that my bro in law taught me years ago and has always been a winner was to teach my dogs to "have a drink/swim" I can USUALLY send dog 100-200 yards down into creek and get them to lay down in pool of water (I say usually cause sometimes they encounter a wallaby on the way Grin)   its become a thing I always do when going past water and it really helps to keep dogs going.
great to hear Tilly back up and running.

Smiley Yeah. Tilly has a "have a drink" command on her, and its a good idea. I'm an old shepherd & farmer.

Sometimes I will say "have a drink" to her and she will walk over to the creek, water bowl or what ever and if she's not thirsty she hangs her head down by the water and just stands there. Sheila's eh, always shamming it. Smiley

I wonder what Tilly calls herself when meeting other dogs.  Smiley

This Monday. I found this one before her after I had shot it because she was busy back tracking it, and I walked onto it. It didn't stop her though from finally appearing and rushing past me for the last 10 yard dash to claim it as her own.

Last gasp for 2017.

Took some family out for a hunt. Sam shot 2 and I shot 1. Sam's first 2 shots with a rifle ever (I had given him some dry firing practice and safety instructions). Tilly had fun.

The other day I took #2 son in law from the UK out and he shot his first deer with his first shot. So 2 newbies, 3 shots. 3 deer.

This one was hit a bit high in the shoulder for an instant kill but it did drop it (318 yards shot). Tilly's reaction when she found it told me it was still alive so when I arrived I had one in the chamber and was ready for a quick dispatch. Tilly had hold of it.

I can't add it to her tally because I only count the ones I actually shoot with her.

Later: Been to the vet with her today. Tilly is up for a full (vet called it radical) hysterectomy on Thursday. She's had a vaginal infection on and off for 12 months and has been on antibiotics. Vet says that if it gets any worse it will kill her so its time to really deal to it.

Fingers crossed.

Mate ...... look after the wee girl, she deserves nothing but the best,we had similar issues with Meg before she spayed and the only thing that kept it away was a radicle shot of general antibiotic in muscle from friendly vet, that sorted it but sounds like Tilly way past that. keep us posted Mate.

You are a good friend to Tilly!  Smiley

She had a big injection of antibiotics today and is on another course of pills until the op on Thursday.
