My first roar

Me, Dad Mum and Braggi went on the roar.   I got a gingerbread man and a milo in town and mum and dad got a coffee.  I ate everyone's chocolate that came with their coffee.  We got to the car park and it was really icy.  There were icicles everywhere.  I was very excited.

We saw some other hunters and they were going were we were going to go so we went to another place that Dad knew.  We walked up the track for three hours.   I wasn't even tired.  dad gave a few roars and we didn't hear  anything.  Dad gave one other call and this time we heard two roars back! One was from the north and one from the south.

So we headed towards the call  that was from the north after a little while  we figured out that it was the one mum and dad had hunted the week before.  We headed through the bush. There were patches of sun on the ground and shade.  Sometimes it was hard walking in the bush, especially on the way back.  We could hear the stags and they sounded noisy and angry.  We got up to a ridge and I started whistling and dad told me off.  I also played at being a ninja before I got told off as well.

Dad was on one side and was roaring and braggi was up on a log on the other side.  We could see about 20 or 30 meters.  Braggi saw something and I saw him close his bolt and aim about five times.  Then the gun went off and I got a massive fright... Braggi reloaded and I thought he had missed but if missed the deer would've run off anyway.

He gave us the thumbs up so we knew he had hit it.  Kaipo and me ran down down and found the stag.  Braggi had shot it between the eyes.  It was a good shot.  It  was a beauty and it was a nine pointer.  He had been fighting and had some bruises on his neck from another stag.

We took some photos then started to cut the stag up, I helped with my hunting knife.  We took everything as no meat was ruined.  Mum filled my pack up with meat and then made me put the antlers on my shoulders as well it was really heavy.

We then had to climb out of the bush back to the track.  Then I ran back down the track and I had to keep waiting for the others.  I was so glad we finally got a stag and I heard so many roars.  It was my first time going on the roar.  I didn't have to carry any meat but we got heaps which is good as I am going to eat all the steak. YUM!  Braggi is going to hang the antlers in his bar. I had blood all over my shoes and I asked mum not to wash them because I wanted to prove to my teacher that I was a real hunter.

I went spear fishing the other day in the lake the other day and we shot a catfish.

So cool.  I've got to show this to my wife and my 6 year old son.

Well done young man, there are many hunters on this forum who have watched you grow and develop into a son your parents and family can be very proud of, they are doing a fantastic job in raising such a well balanced and obviously competent  young bushman.

PS, keep playing with your Ninja skills Flynn, it wont be long before Dad will be unable to see you doing it  Grin. Osu!

Thanks for all those great comments.  I really enjoy being a hunter.  Dad has a 243 for me but I am not allowed to use it unless dad gets a suppressor on it.
I am all ready doing mma /mixed martial arts iceman.
