Old mate from way back--ex rabbit board. East Coast.
ex NZFS culler--Kaweka's-Te Urewera.
Ex meat hunter-possom trapper. Carpenter-teacher.
A good mate on the hill and in camp.
Will be sadly missed.  Cry

Sorry to hear that Baz. Shared Manson hut with Slim a couple of times. He can't have been that old  Sad

35 years ago, Kaweka's.....Jan 1980 to be exact, carried this velvet out for Slim and sold it for $181.25 and posted him a cheque for half as arranged. He said later on that I was the first person who had honoured the deal. Other's who he had done the same deal with were never heard from or seen again .

Jim's mate on the block at Manson hut...Trevor Vause (spelling?).....Not sure if that's Jim or my brother with his back to the camera, but he was in the hut when I took the photo.

Keep racking up those tails in the great hunting ground in the sky and RIP bud.

Thanks for that Nimrod--Jim would have appreciated you're honesty. I'am sure the guy in the pic is your brother--Slim had skinny legs like an ostrich.
Slim was 63. He chose to end his life on the 1st of March 2015.
It's left his family and friends devastated and saddened by the tragic loss.
Thanks again Nimrod for you're post and the pics. You're memory for names is awesome.
Cheers.

Jim is far right.

I'm pretty sure I met Jim years ago, early 80's when I was a rabbiter at Rangitaiki when I was working Poronui Station with Terry Martin, as he was a mate of Terry's and I think Jim lived then at Ngaruawahia. I think then he had a german short haired pointer dog at the time with him.

G'day Duxbac.
You may well be right-He was a unique character not easily forgotten. We worked together on the Pest Destruction Board mid to late 70's.
Cheers.

Trevor Vause in Nimrods photo went on to own a gun shop in Mount Gambier South Aus. From there Trevor moved to North America and became a big game guide. Still there last I heard. Good guy.
