156lber with 3 inch tusks from 2 weeks ago, I was walking back up a forestry track which was blocked with trees when I come round a corner and this boar was standing 200 m in front on side of the road. He bolted uphill a mistake my dogs pulled him with in a couple of hundred metres. 110lber caught by mine and mates young dogs. A hairy 160lber from north otago. Hayden lugging a forestry 150lber. A tusky 145lber from north otago. Young Bradley having a work out with a native 110lber. A big 180lber which eluded myself and other hunters until he slipped up and my dogs nailed him. Jared doing the hard yards with a 175lb forestry boar which my young dog found and bailed and got beaten up for his trouble. 150 lber Haydens dogs caught at night while exercising his dogs with no gun or tracking collars, I got the sos call and we stumbled out of the bush at 11.30pm. A big fat 206lber forestry boar caught in Feb 2012. This boar had frustrated a few hunters by always braking from the bail. A couple of my dogs on the teryx, a great pig hunting machine on the top of Mt Keyburn.

Far out that's orsum! Does one of them have a bit of saddleback in it? Pic 6 i think.
Yep there used to be quite a few around, about 8 - 10 years ago they where pretty common but I think with a lot more hunting pressure now there are not so many. They grow quicker and bigger. We have had quite a few saddle back boars over the years around the 180 to 190 lb.
Interesting I have got a photo of my great granddad with his horse with about 8 wild pigs hanging of it and around it and 1 of them is a good saddle back boar. He used to live in the Tuatapere area of Southland We estimate that photo would have been taken about 1910.

We got a fat 80lb boar last nite as he was hovering up some expensive lush grass. Stomach chocka with worms. Must loved the easy tilling after the heavy rain.Nice hogs. Effort well rewarded.

Good pic's of some good boars. Agree about the Kawasaki Teryx, our's is a useful bit of offroad kit, when you come to replace your tyres, try a set of Maxxis Zillas.

Went 210 lbs and the black one was just under 170,not the best pic was taken on cell phone. We got one dog killed on that black boar and another one with a bad rip in thoat,my grandad said in his 55 years of pig hunting he had never said a pig with so much fight and will to live, the pig had a broken tusk and a possible old bullet wound, only afterwards find out thats the big one every been trying to catch for a long time, was our first time in the area,we go back every couple of months to have a look around and that's were the 210 pound pig was caught prob only 2 kms from that black pig

Couple of awesum pigs there. Good effort Have to say thou if the guys running 2 to 3 dogs have good hard bailers they prob not have that much trouble in stopping pigs of that size. The guys i used to do lots of pighunting with in the nelson region always ran only 2 or 3 good bailers, we caught plenty of big boars with them over the years. Boars over 150il plus were happy to stand there and fight a couple of dogs standing off, whole different story if you using holders thou. They wouldnt hang around and a couple of holders wont often contain a boar of 180lb in the gorse, just get a hiding and thats the end of that. Two or three hard bailers thou and you prob get it if they any good
