156lber with 3 inch tusks from 2 weeks ago, I was walking back up a forestry track which was blocked with trees when I come round a corner and this boar was standing 200 m in front on side of the road. He bolted uphill a mistake my dogs pulled him with in a couple of hundred metres. 110lber caught by mine and mates young dogs. A hairy 160lber from north otago. Hayden lugging a forestry 150lber. A tusky 145lber from north otago. Young Bradley having a work out with a native 110lber. A big 180lber which eluded myself and other hunters until he slipped up and my dogs nailed him. Jared doing the hard yards with a 175lb forestry boar which my young dog found and bailed and got beaten up for his trouble. 150 lber Haydens dogs caught at night while exercising his dogs with no gun or tracking collars, I got the sos call and we stumbled out of the bush at 11.30pm. A big fat 206lber forestry boar caught in Feb 2012. This boar had frustrated a few hunters by always braking from the bail. A couple of my dogs on the teryx, a great pig hunting machine on the top of Mt Keyburn.

Far out that's orsum! Does one of them have a bit of saddleback in it? Pic 6 i think.
Yep there used to be quite a few around, about 8 - 10 years ago they where pretty common but I think with a lot more hunting pressure now there are not so many. They grow quicker and bigger. We have had quite a few saddle back boars over the years around the 180 to 190 lb.
Interesting I have got a photo of my great granddad with his horse with about 8 wild pigs hanging of it and around it and 1 of them is a good saddle back boar. He used to live in the Tuatapere area of Southland We estimate that photo would have been taken about 1910.
