I know the big stags have done this a few weeks ago but seen a group of red stags in weekend and 4 out of 7 had dropped/castes there antlers. I was on private land near ruahines.

Mate Shot an 8 on Saturday when we were out. His first stag. Still in hard antler obviously. Other mates on another block, about 20km as the crow flys saw three stags all cast

Watched four Fallow bucks, antlers attached, eye me up the other day.

mate shot his first deer last weekend ,  Ruahine west  Shockedside , 10 points , still hard , ( he's rapped ! , using his dads  1960 Sako .270 )   the local possum guy called it a "standard 3 yr old ruahine red " ...spotted 4 others with  2 showing velvet stubs (they were a lot larger ones )and two showing hard spikes ...and picked u a fresh cast 4 points . lovely shape and colours ..will see if i can post some pix , not quite sure how but i guess i'll blunder my way through it somehow ..
  

holy smoke ..did ya see the size of that lil buga !

I found a very fresh six point cast antler last Sunday, tonight I shot a velvety spiker.
