Exactly the same situation which exists in a lower Nth island Fallow herd. And with wonderful results. And yet so many guys knock private land hunting.

I think people knock it because not many have it and as greenhill says it often comes down to who you know. That said all my hunting access has been the result of door knocking so its not like i have been "born with the proverbial spoon" when it comes to access.
Like you though grandad i keenly seek private land permission because i like the idea of managed herds and the trophy opportunities they can produce.
Awesome to see the stags grouped together like that. I have only seen full stags hanging with young spikers. The stags normally hang around an area if there is a hind in season and then bugger off. They are fun to hunt and just as exciting to watch them interacting in the bush. Some great stuff here.
