Right place Right time..

Headed into the kaimai ranges planning on camping out for 6 days so brought lots of food in.. 12 pack of beer too.
Took a new route and that was ALOT longer and we ended up getting bushed just off the track and camped out for the night in the rain Sad
Got up early morning and ended up making our way towards our hunting area it was cold, misserable, and hard on the back so we stopped for 20 minutes.
Got a pack of biscuits out and cracked into a well deserved tui beer and listened to the tui birds.. Tongue

we carried on with our heavy luggage and Trivia started winding hard out!
I stagger out with my backpack and all of a sudden onto a slip..
I look up and see a Stag with my mate Matthew and mutter f*ck.
I quickly quick scope it and pressed the trigger aiming for the back..
I yelled out to matt think i got it!
We then saw trees moving so I encourage trivia "where's the deer girl" and she quickly tracks it down.
I then see the stag looking at me in the trees lying down and I put another round into it just to make sure it doesn't go anywhere.
Yahooos all round, beer cracked open butchery and camp was set up. First Doc land stag. First stag. 12 hours of walking to get him.
We dragged him out of the bush onto slip for photos.

Me and matt and trivia

Maybe You young fullas should leave the "PISS' till after the hunt aye? Roar and all , you just never know when there is a sillier bunch of doofers over the next ridge that have drunk more than you and are out hunting the roar . Good marks on the arse shot Kaimai stag though.

Yeah true it doesn't look good on my behalf but to be honest we opened up the beer like an hour or two before the hunting spot and i only put one in my spout when I was bout 200m away from the spot and when sign was really picking up.

Well done on the stag - good to see you out there and getting some success.

Nothing wrong with having a few beers at the end of a hunt but drinking and firearms do not mix in any form (Arms Code and common sense). Hunting and beers in the same photo never look that good to me either.

All the best for the rest of the roar, and I suggest that enjoy your beers once the rifles are put away.

when i read stories that include booze, I wonder why guys have to take their booze into the bush. Let alone while actually hunting! FFS

Like a beer, but personally,  I go into the hills for the bush and hunting experience, can drink plenty when back home.

To be fair mate i'm not trying to cause shit..
We weren't hunting at the time we were simply hiking in the thick bush. got to the top of the bush and enjoyed a cold beverage. not knowing that's against the law. Shocked
it was a good distance away from where that beer was open when we shot the stag.
you may see a couple of beers in the stag photo but that's after we got the stag and that was for the celebration drink

ABSOLUTE shocker boys  Angry I'm sure there are others out there that will be echoing these sentiments, glad I'm not hunting the same areas as you.
Alcohol and firearms don't mix, stay at home and drink your piss.
Spend your time in the bush hunting.

cant think of anyhting much worse than drinking beer and tramping around that crappy Kiamai  bush lol
it takes a while to wise up lol.
best to save the beer for in front of the comp at home and abusing the natives like I do.
which reminds me...
