Hey guys just wondering ifthere are many places on public land around taupo to get the odd pig or two with a rifle no dogs.
Not wanting secret spots just rough idea of where to start?
Cheers in advance,

I used to hunt the Pines in Kaiangaroa forest. The sunny gullies in the Winter with small trees or recent logging activity were the best bet,be sure to get up early and get a permit.

Good luck with that. Over 20 trucks parked down the main drag there last weekend plus countless spotlighters. Hard to findem when they been dogged that hard.

The Pines have long been thrashed by Pig hunters using Dogs.No many people spot and stalk pigs using a Rifle. There are a few bloody hungry gullies in there, not many people venture into them.Funny thing is the biggest pig I have shot was asleep about 500m from a road.
