How to cure skins

Want to cure a sheep skin to use as a saddle blanket but have been told that the old kersoine and baking soda way is not good if it gets wet again

And it works.. I did a fawn skin with success. Still looks great after 6-7 years

+ 1 I done a red deer skin and it turned out fine, over oiled it though so had a bit of seepage  Grin

Got about 20 litres of high strength hydrochloric acid anyone who is passing through Hawkes Bay is more than welcome to pour some off if they want to try  this method.
