Best possum trap?

Hi, I'm keen to get some traps for the on-coming winter season, I see guncity in ChCh have dukes No.1 at $25 each, which is steep-as. Has anyone tried the New Zealand made Pestgo leghold traps, which sell for about $6 each, any advice would be appreciated. Smiley

When I was trapping a couple of years ago I used dukes and they were all good noy $25 each good tho.
If you were going to pay that kind of money I would try find some Victors, even second hand they are great traps!

I have mostly Victors and I must say that they are the smoothest traps of the whole bunch. The Dukes seem alright but not for $25!1 Is there an earthquake levy on traps now??? Wink

Google up Victor Traps New Zealand, Maurie Woodcraft is the NZ agent.   And have a look vis the search function, there was quite a thread relating to $6 Chinese traps.  Victors are ,in my opinion the best leghold readily available in NZ. Dukes are OK,made in Korea ,I believe, but not at $25.

Victors are best. You can get a box of 12 Victor No1 traps from Maurie Woodcraft for $200 ( get him to knock $4 off ) they are $17 each x 12 = $204. I need to get some traps and might try out some cheapie ones ( like Bushmans Best ) if i cant find any second hand victors

My favorites are bushmasters. They are heavier than victors or duke but hold better. I brought mine for $8.50 each off a guy that just got his cyanide licence so didnt need them anymore. However most of my trapping spots i can 4wd right to so they are ideal. Woudnt want to lug a pack load of them around all day though.......

The imported for duke traps is in ChCh and he sells for about $10 +gst when you buy enough. Check the Internet before you buy anything, because the Internet can save you thousands.
